Meeting with Members in London, UK

Wonderful Friends,

Please know that the G1K work is spreading far and wide.  Tonight in London, we enjoyed a dinner with our local members here in East London--eleven dedicated and inspired people who came together to show their continued support for what we are doing in the world.  Our marvelous Shalini Ajoodha, the UK Coordinator, has organized volunteers and information tables to be available to answer questions and give information about G1K with interested retreat participants.

During Neale's entire UK tour, she and her team have been at the ready to grow our membership.  We'll soon know the results of her efforts--many people have requested our newsletter and some have signed up on site.  But until we can report further details to you, we wanted you to know that our work is moving forward in the world.

Shalini Ajoodha - UK G1K Coordinator

We promised to inform you along the way of what was going on with the tour, and so we send you this note with photographs of our evening together.

Next stop--Amsterdam.  And then on to Zandvoort where our first ever European G1K conference will be held.  Our organizer, Lou Hamburger, is anxiously awaiting the arrival of Neale and team, and the almost forty G1K members coming together from all over Europe, and even from the US!

HT Love! David Kirby & Rita Curtis

Love to you all.  We wish you were here with us, but know always that you are here in spirit.

Love,
Rita

G1K European Conference

The Group of 1000 European Conference Review

My dear and wonderful friends in G1K,

We have just returned from one of the most exciting weekends ever!  The first European Group of 1000 conference on the beautiful coast of The Netherlands was a resounding success.  We all came away with a renewed sense of purpose because of our inspired and lively discussions and the quality time in conversation with Neale.  Lovely Em, Neale's life partner, was such a beautiful addition to the team, and we will always be grateful for her loving contribution and connection with all of us.

I had thought to write about the weekend, but our wonderful Shalini Adjoodha, the newly-appointed Worldwide Enrollment Coordinator, sent such a lovely observation this morning which I am going to simply cut and paste here.  Please know that we all shared these same feelings of oneness during that weekend.  We hope that you can live this momentous event with us through the words of one who was in the room.

Shalini writes:

The second twice-yearly Group of 1000 (G1K) conference was held last weekend in The Netherlands, in the seaside town of Zandervort.  Saturday morning saw thirty-five committed souls gather together on the seventh floor, each anticipating a weekend of togetherness, emotional safety and spiritual rejuvenation, and as Monday drew to a close, each stepped away fulfilled that their expectations had been met.

Windows boasting peaceful views of a lush blue ocean, served as a perfect reminder that we are part of a world with infinite possibilities, and within G1K we have more support and energy collectively, than we could ever reach for individually. The weekend itself was an opportunity for us to be free. A chance for us to be together in a safe place knowing that we were gathered with like minded souls, recognising that the world is ready for change and we are the ones who are creating this.  It was a long moment of togetherness where Spirituality and God’s Love could be openly acknowledged without ridicule or fear of condemnation.  Feelings, discussions, and emotions that we were permitted to lay bare in the room were priceless, each of us blissfully aware that our Souls long for these moments to be part of our everyday reality.

When we joined the Group of 1000, we did so knowing that the CWG books contained enormous power to productively change lives on both personal and global levels. We understood that our planet was ready for leaders to show up with no hidden agendas, and that if we could just give to another the togetherness we had experienced through the books, then the world itself would be one step closer to oneness.

The weekend with Neale revisited the foundations of what G1K was about, the definitive action plan we agreed with when we joined, and the partnerships (Humanities, School of New Spirituality and the Recreation Foundation) available to us to bring change into communities, schools, and organisations.  Lively informal discussions coupled with deeply personal moments in the safe haven of the room, took each person into their strengths and potential, of becoming the leader they already are.

The Group of 1000 is not here to sit back and watch the world bring itself to an end. We are here because we took the time to look deeply within and understand the implications, of the world continuing in the same pattern in the same old way. We exist as one unit to show what togetherness can do, and the harmony it can bring.  We exist as individuals, within a group to make personal contributions of energy that will transform the lives of precious future generations, breath by breath.

Our next Group of 1000 gathering will be confirmed in 2008, until then we will continue to walk in the light with commitment, action, and a profound knowing that wherever we touch the earth, we are always united in our togetherness.

With Deep Appreciation,

Shalini

Meeting1 My Wonderful Friends,

I couldn't wait to get back to my computer after our trip to Ft. Collins, Colorado, and report to you about the amazing connection with the local members of The Group of 1000. On Wednesday evening, April 19, Neale and I, and Neale's companion, Young Hee, sat down with a handful of very dedicated and inspired members of The Group of 1000, one of whom had come from as far away as Pittsburg, to be with us on this evening, and discuss the vision of this work in the world.

Nannette Kennedy, our wonderful newsletter writer and general voice connection with so many of our members all over the world, was there with Randy Anderson, her fiance and never-failing supporter of this work, and Casey, Nannette's 11-year-old son (I wrote about him in my first blog), who took notes and sat rapt for three hours! Casey is by far our youngest member, but certainly not the least dedicated to this idea of creating a better world.

IMG_2392.JPG Also there was the inimitable Fred Read from a small community in Colorado called Westcliffe, 3-1/2 hours away from Ft. Collins. Fred kept feeding hard questions, and contributing his ideas, in a way that had us all awed and inspired. Jo Anne Tippett flew to Colorado for just this occasion, and also asked some hard-hitting questions, and offered some wonderful thoughts about how we can be who we say we are in the world.

IMG_2386.JPG Our wonderful sponsor in Ft. Collins and producer of Neale's event there, Donna Visocky attended, along with Nancy Lee, a local radio talk-show host and long-time friend of Neale and Rita.

It was an evening which bound us together in ways that we will not soon forget. We have a common purpose--a goal that ignites us and keeps us in the knowing that we will always be friends and IMG_2379.JPG colleagues in this vision that we share. It is our fervent hope that get-acquainted dinners like this can be enjoyed with GroupK1 members all over the world during the next year, and that bonds can be forged again and again, creating community that will thrive and be a catalyst for the change that we seek to make.

Neale's talk at the Lincoln Center in Ft. Collins on Thursday night touched many people in the 600-person audience. IMG_2353.JPGThere were 51 emails at info@TheGroupof1000.com the next morning, asking for more information and the four letters explaining the commitment asked of members.

The next opportunity for a member dinner will be in Utrecht, The Netherlands--time and place will be announced on the Member Calendar. IMG_2400.JPGOur friend, Roel Somers, is organizing this event, so if you are in the area of Utrecht and feel that you can join us, please make the connection with Roel to receive information about when and where. His email is: rs-support@hetnet.nl

Love, Rita
